National Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art and Practices

The National Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art and Practices is accepting applications for all open 2025 Steering Committee seats. We want to welcome all interested members of the iron casting community to submit applications and nominations. We are looking for those folks who are super dedicated to art making, casting iron, the history of iron casting conferences at Sloss Furnaces, and to ensuring the inclusiveness, success, and longevity of Sloss Metal Arts. If you are interested, then please apply and bring your enthusiasm and ideas to advance the iron community.
This is a volunteer position with a two conference cycle (2025 and 2027) commitment; one which a high level of time and energy is expected. Committee members can be expected to attend monthly zoom meetings (typically 1-2 hours), manage calls, review applications, help prepare announcements for their area, and manage the majority of the logistical aspects of their area with the support of the Steering Committee and Sloss Furnaces Staff. Steering Committee members are expected to be on-site throughout the conference (April, 2025, exact dates TBD). Appointments will act as co-chair in their offered areas through the 2025 conference, and assume the role as area chair for the 2027 conference.

Applications can be submitted via the linked form. This application asks for your interest in all available areas, a cover letter, CV, and either a PDF portfolio with a maximum of 20 images or a URL to your website/digital portfolio.

Areas include: Demonstrations, Exhibitions, Guest Furnaces, Panels & Presentations, Performances, Student Cupola Contest, Social Media & Outreach, Workshops, Mold Masters, and Volunteers.

Applications will be reviewed by the standing committee members, current conference Chair, and Director of Sloss Metal Arts.

Call for NCCCIAP Co-Chair
The National Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art and Practices is accepting applications for the 2025 Co-Chair seat. We welcome all interested members of the iron casting community to submit applications and/or nominations. We are looking for someone who is highly dedicated to art making, casting iron, the history of iron casting conferences at Sloss Furnaces, and ensuring the inclusiveness, success, and longevity of the Conference and Sloss Metal Arts.
If you are interested, then please apply and bring your enthusiasm and ideas to advance the iron community. You are more than welcome to self-nominate by submitting the requested application materials, or to nominate someone as Co-Chair.
This is a volunteer position with a two conference cycle (2025 and 2027) commitment; one which a high level of time, energy, and attention to detail is expected. In the capacity of Co-Chair, you will be expected to lead the planning phase of the conference with the residing Chair, Ex-Officio, and the Steering Committee, and co-direct the conference once on site. This includes attending monthly meetings, development of sponsorships and fundraising, motivating steering committee action, development of conference programming, and ensuring maximum participation from the greater national cast iron community. This effort will take place with increasing intensity between early Spring 2024 and conference delivery in spring of 2025. The appointed Co-Chair will continue to participate in the 2027 conference and conference planning as the Chair of the NCCCIAP.
