CALL FOR LIVE-STREAMED IRON PERFORMANCE

The Steering Committee for the National Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art and Practices invites individual artists or groups to submit proposals for a performance art piece to be live-streamed during the 2021 virtual conference.

The changes that the pandemic has caused in the world has put all of us in a position to think differently about the way we present and produce art. We understand the dynamism of performance art is in the moment, the present, laid bare in front of your audience. In light of this year's conference, and in order to preserve as much of that energy as possible, we are calling for artist(s) to propose a performance to be live-streamed during the 2021 NCCCIAP virtual conference. Please note that this live-streamed performance will be presented as one of the two headline performances that will define this year’s conference.  We ask for proposed performances to be site-specific to its performance site and incorporate the history of the process of casting iron to express artistic intent which will add to its conceptual discourse. When conceiving your performance, please consider the theme of this year’s conference, which is Pig Iron Rough Notes: Lived Histories/Imagined Futures. As you develop your proposal, include any potential technological support you foresee needing. Please also note that this performance must occur in the evening during the week of the conference.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must adhere to CDC guidelines pertaining to COVID-19 during the entire performance.

  • For more info: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

  • Must have stable internet access at the performance location.

  • Must have dedicated equipment (1080 HD minimum camera on webcam, phone, tablet, computer), camera person/crew filming during the duration of the performance.

CALL FOR REGIONALLY RECORDED IRON PERFORMANCE

The Steering Committee for the National Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art and Practices invites individual artists or groups to submit proposals for a performance art piece to be created and recorded regionally before the 2021 virtual conference.

The changes that the pandemic has caused in the world has put all of us in a position to think differently about the way we create and consume art. Preference will be given to performances that are consciously sited in locations that reflect the artist’s creative intent. As you develop your proposal, please include any potential technological support you foresee needing.
