OPEN CALL for Co-Chair
2021 National Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art & Practices
The National Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art and Practices is accepting applications for the 2021 Co-Chair seat. We want to welcome all interested members of the iron casting community to submit applications and nominations. We are looking for one that is super dedicated to art making, casting iron, the history of iron casting conferences at Sloss Furnaces, and to ensuring the inclusiveness, success, and longevity of Sloss Metal Arts.
If you are interested, then please apply and bring your enthusiasm and ideas to advance the iron community. You are more than welcome to self-nominate, or to recommend someone as Co-Chair.
In the capacity of Co-Chair, you would be expected to lead the planning phase of the conference with the residing Chair, Ex-Officio Chair, and the steering committee, and co-direct the conference once on site. This includes development of sponsorships and fundraising, motivating steering committee action and development of conference programming, and ensuring maximum participation from the greater national cast iron community. This effort will take place with increasing intensity between March 2020 and conference delivery in spring of 2021.
We are committed to having a lot of fun and pulling off another very successful conference, but we will be honest that it takes time and attention to detail. We are looking for the right person to join our team and hope that you have a vision to share on how to achieve this mission for 2021 and 2023, as the Co-Chair runs two conferences.
Please be aware this is a volunteer position, and a two conference cycle (2021 and 2023) commitment; one which a high level of time and energy is expected. The Co-Chair will cycle to 2023 where they will take over as Chair of the NCCCIAP conference. Applications will be reviewed by the standing committee members, current conference Chair, and Director of Sloss Metal Arts.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Further information on the 2019 NCCCIAP can be found on our website at https://www.nccciap.com/, if needed. We look forward to hearing from you!
